2024 has been such a crazy year for movies! Some of them were mind-blowing, while others made me wish I stayed home watching TikToks. Here’s my breakdown of the five best and worst movies of the year, plus what’s coming in 2025.
The Good:
- “Deadpool 3”
Ryan Reynolds returns as the irreverent anti-hero in this highly anticipated sequel that promises to blend action and humor while introducing new characters from the Marvel universe. - “Dune: Part Two”
The continuation of Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s epic saga, focusing on Paul Atreides’ quest for revenge and the battle for the future of Arrakis. - “Furiosa”
A prequel to “Mad Max: Fury Road,” this film explores the origins of the fierce Imperator Furiosa, played by Anya Taylor-Joy, against a backdrop of war-torn landscapes. - “A Quiet Place: Day One”
A prequel to the popular horror franchise, this movie explores the origins of the apocalyptic sound-sensitive creatures that changed life for humanity.
The Bad:
- “The substance” viewers didn’t really enjoy, lots of nudity
- “A real pain” – This one had so much potential but ended up being a mess. The storyline felt all over the place.
- “Blink twice” – No one seemed to enjoy this one
- “”wolfs” – It was supposed to be spooky fun, but it just felt boring. The jokes didn’t land, and the scares weren’t scary.
What to Expect in 2025:
Next year is looking super exciting! Marvel and DC are both dropping new movies, and there’s a lot of hype around “Avengers: New Dawn.” We’re also getting more video game adaptations, like “The Legend of Zelda,” which I don’t think will disappoint at all.
In 2024 we can be grateful for all the movies we saw although I would like to let you guys in on my personal favorite which was Deadpool 3, the perfect combination of funny but dramatic as well. I hope to see more movies like this in 2025.
Sci-fi seems to be the big trend for 2025, with directors exploring AI and dystopian futures. Plus, a bunch of sequels and remakes are coming, which could either be amazing or total disasters. Fingers crossed for more good stuff than bad, In 2025 we can expect some more comedy as well as I’ve heard that Adam Sandler will be staring in at least 2 new movies!.
In the end, 2024 gave us some awesome movies and some total flops. Its important to enjoy all the movies you watched, be sure to take away a lesson from each movie. Here’s hoping 2025 brings more epic stories, better effects, and maybe a few surprises. Can’t wait to hit the theaters and find out, nothing better than going to the movies and watching a new movie. Hopefully 2025 has some amazing new movies for us.
